Here are some photos of the 67 Galaxie Convertible shortly after we got it!
More pictures will be coming in the upcoming days...some that are new and updated after some detailing
Here is the story behind the car...enjoy reading...
As for our car...we inherited it from my mother-in-law...
My father-in-law bought it from the original owner in 82...with a fresh paint job and new top. He and I putzed around in it for a while...and in 86 when my wife and I got married, we used it in our wedding (whole line of convertibles). Shortly after the wedding, I parked the car in one of my father-in-laws unheated garages...and there it sat for 13+ years...(and a contractor had the other two bays and you can just imagine the dust and grime that fell onto the car...)
My father-in-law passed away in 1999 and in 2000 we sold the property that the 67 was parked at. Not to let it go with the sale, we flatbeded the to my mother-in-law's garage and there is sat until 2003 when she called me and said..."where is the title to the old car"...and I told her it was in the Ford file. She said it was not...then we started talking about other things...then at the end of the conversation I asked her why she was looking for the title to the old Ford, and she said "well, I just got off the phone with the Salvation Army, and as soon as I find the title, they will come by and take the car away." My immediate response was...without even taking a breath was..."OVER MY DEAD BODY!!!....I will call you back real soon!" I talked to my wife, got permission from her to get and keep the car, as long as I teach the kids how to work on it and that it would not take up her parking spot in the garage. That was a no-brainer to me...so I called my mother in law back up and expressed to her what I would do with the car and in doing so, it convinced her that it would be better in our hands then Salvation Army's hands. I had one stipulation that came with the acceptance of this car, I had to get it out of her garage in two months or less....and I did (less then 30 days it took!)
The cost of getting the car was a friend with a flatbed...and the cost to get it up and running after sitting for all those years was for me to redo the gas tank (rusted pin-holes in it), full brakes, fuel pump, battery, some cables, tires, hoses and all fluids...and when everthing was ready to go, that great Thunderbird 390 2V fired right up!

It had when we got it 96,000 original miles and it runs great. In 2003/2004 I put a new top on it...and during the summer I got some paint cleaning supplies and a professional buffer from www.griotsgarage.com and spent three days...ok four days buffing out the paint...and WOW...their products are great and this car looks great at 10feet. The best thing about this car is it is 100% original...engine, seats, even the spare tire.... :-)
So, you got the semi-long version of this, sorry to say...but I am proud of this car and am honored to have it. I continually get people coming up to me and talking about it...and on top of that, it is just a great looking car to boot!
